Business Owners
Do you send out emails and launch products/services and then realise it was full of spelling errors, old dates, and missing links?
Has business picked up to the point where you’re dropping the ball on your writing projects? You know, the ones that are unfinished, drafted out, half-started, almost complete… but not quite. The ones you’re too afraid (or to nervous) to show to the world.
Do you find yourself wasting billable hours, starting at a blank screen, spinning your wheels, and ultimately pushing your larger writing projects to the bottom of your to do list?
It’s one thing to write a social media post, and another thing entirely to write an article or blog, never mind a book, workbook, eguide or course.
Editing Services are perfect if:
You threw together a website, newsletter, ebook, and all-the-things when you first started and know it can use an update and fresh set of eyes.
You understand quality writing is essential for business success (especially if you want to take it to the next level), but it’s often one of the hardest things to sit down and do, which means you probably never really get around to doing it (or if you do it never turns out how you want).
You realise the importance of blogs, newsletters, launch and nurturing email sequences, presentations, etc… in cultivating a know/like/trust relationship with your clients, but just don’t have the time.
You have a book, course, or other large writing project you want to start… and finish!
You’re concerned your writing, grammar, style, and structure are inconsistent and potentially damaging the reputation of your brand’s professionalism.
How much does it cost?
The cost ranges between $50-$99(AUD) per 1000 words (plus GST for Australian residents), and varies depending on the quality of the content received. Generally the more polished the draft, the less time I’ll need to spend, which means a lower cost for you.
How does it work?
Before we commit to working together, I prepare a custom no obligation quote with a short sample (500 words) of edits so you can see how I can improve your work and help you hit publish faster with confidence.
Step One
Once you’ve accepted your quote, we’ll have a short meeting to discuss your goals, style guide, and timeframes for the project. If you don’t have a style guide, or know what one is, that’s ok! I’ve got one in my shop, and when you book a service, you
Next I get into the nitty-gritty and start copyediting and proofreading for…
editorial consistency (spelling, capitalisation, abbreviations, hyphenations, etc)
correct and consistent formatting (line spacing, font size and style, page numbering, headings, margins, etc)
grammatical errors (incorrect word choice, punctuation, etc)
consistent and properly defined acronyms, abbreviations, and initialisms
correct labelling of tables, figures, graphs, and images
general readability, clarity, and conciseness
all links are working, dates are correct, and anything else you want me to check
Step Two
I send my marked-up document through for you to accept/reject, answer, and review my questions, comments, and suggestions. (Sometimes it’s good to set up a short meeting at this point to go through things together as well.)
Step Three
You send the document back to me, I do a final proofread, then send it back to you along with my invoice.
How can I get started?
You have a few options…
1. Fill in my Initial Quote Form here.
2. Connect with me via my Contact page.
3. Send an email to hello@elmtreewords.com
What else should I know?
I edit in Microsoft Word and use tracked changes and comments so you can review everything I’ve done. If you have a website or other formatted/professionally designed
If you have works that are less than 1000 words, or are looking for an editor to have on retainer, contact me here, and I’ll be in touch about a custom quote.
I’m here to support and edit your work. At the end of the day however, what you publish and submit is at your discretion and remains your final decision.
